don’t that beat all

In browsing the IMDB just now (in the course of my actual work that I was diligently doing of course), I found a banner ad containing the text “Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton have come together to help save the planet.” The ad linked here, and I guess it’s sort of a sensible ad line when you put two and two together, but good gravy is it misleading at first. How either of those two men could possibly contribute to the well-being of the planet is quite a mystery to me; putting them together would seem to cause despair and misery along the lines of the Four Horsemen.

This has been an OK day. I’m avoiding some work and doing other work and being irritated but resigned about yet other work. I think I figured out why MD frustrates me so much: he’s a pretty good manager, but he’s a terrible leader. Leaders have to inspire the people under them by hard work and understanding, and MD does not do this whatsoever.

I still haven’t done anything about my goal for 2008, which was to clean out the garage closet. Between now and the end of August is pretty much my only time for doing it, too, but I’ve been enjoying the time off so much so far. And why not – this is only the second week I’ve had without classes, after all. I refuse to beat myself up over this.

There’s a lot of work going on here at the end of the day, so I don’t have anything else.
